Dan River Year AmeriCorps

We are a group of 41 AmeriCoprs members serving at 17 different sites in Danville, Pittsylvania, Halifax, Martinsville, and Henry County.

AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. AmeriCorps programs like the Dan River Year AmeriCorps does more than move communities forward; they serve their members by creating jobs and providing pathways of opportunity for young people entering the workforce. The Dan River Year program goals are to mobilize AmeriCorps members in a community supported environment to build capacity in the region, strengthen community involvement, and address pressing needs. In 2015-2016, AmeriCorps members will focus on building the region’s science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) capacity.
