CALLING ALL AVERETT UNIVERSITY ALUMNI!!!
We invite Averett alumni around the world to join together by volunteering in their communities.
Volunteer on Saturday, April 14 for Day to Engage Around the World!
Here's how you can participate:
1. Respond to this need on engage.averett.edu to let us know you would like to participate.
Sign up by Saturday, March 31 to receive a free t-shirt!
2. If there is an alumnus/alumna in your area who is organizing a group service project, we will post that information further down this page so that you can volunteer with them.
3. If there is not an alumnus/alumna in your area organizing a group service project, you can contact your local United Way or search for volunteer opportunities online to find a volunteer project that matches your interests!
3. When you are out volunteering on Saturday, April 14, be sure to post a picture on social media using #D2Eaverettalumni to connect with everyone else!
Are you in the Danville, VA area? Here are some projects that you can volunteer for!
Project 1:
SOL Saturday at Cedar Terrace
Come out to tutor elementary and middle school children in preparation for their SOL tests!
Time: 11am-1:30pm
Location: Cedar Terrace Youth Center, 141 Cedar Place, Apt. #1
Volunteers needed: 4
Project 2:
Bridge to Bridge 5k (Project 1)
Come out to help with the kids’ Fun Run! Some volunteers will be doing course control, while others will be at the finish line handing out water and goodie bags. After the Fun Run, volunteers will help with the start line and finish line of the 5k and 10k races.
Time: 8am-11am
**If possible, volunteers should also check in on Friday, April 13 between 5pm-7pm at the Community Market**
Location: Community Market, 629 Craghead Street
Volunteers needed: 8
Bridge to Bridge 5k (Project 2)
Come out to provide course control for the 5k walk! Volunteers will hold directional signs for the walkers and keep their time.
Time: 8am-11am
**If possible, volunteers should also check in on Friday, April 13 between 5pm-7pm at the Community Market**
Location: Community Market, 629 Craghead Street

Project 1:
Homeward Trails Animal Rescue
Come out to help organize the storage room so that they are more prepared to help with the rescues they take in and the events they attend.
Time: 9am-12pm
Location: Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, 11116 Fairfax Station Road, Fairfax Station, VA
**Minimum age to volunteer is 10.**

Green Thumbs UP
Come out to help with clearing, cleaning and preparing a garden area for Menchville House residents to enjoy!
Time: 9:30am
