We need 15 - 20 Averett volunteers to volunteer at the Job and Resource Fair for Returning Citizens!
Southwest C.A.R.E.S. (Community Action Re-entry System), a division of Pittsylvania County Community Action, Inc., will host the second annual, two-step Job and Resource Fair for ex-offenders on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. A Job and Resource Fair for returning citizens is a unique networking opportunity that points potential candidates in the right direction for employment. The objective is to provide ex-offenders with the opportunity to connect with businesses and organizations, along with other community agencies, that will help provide both referrals and resources to enhance their employment opportunities. Over 100 participants from last year’s event have obtained gainful employment as a result of this endeavor.
Volunteers are needed to register attendees, pass out water during the event and survye the attendees. A brief orientation for registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the fair will run from at 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Please come out to help even if you can't stay the whole time!
