"Share Your Story" by volunteering at the MLK Day of Service!
There will be several projects and activities in which you can participate between 12:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at Averett's North Campus, so stop by in between classes, on your lunch break, or bring the whole family!
There will be two opportunities for you to serve your community:
1. Make a t-shirt blanket to keep Danville warm.
Bring a gently-used t-shirt that represents you to DONATE to a blanket!
2. Rehab, paint, and build new Little Libraries.
Bring a new or gently-used book to DONATE to a Little Library!
There will also be several reflection activities, including an opportunity to share your story with the StoryCorps app. We will have volunteers to help in this process, so all you need to bring is your story!
At 4:00 p.m., we will recognize the winners of the MLK Art Contest and the MLK Story Contest from Danville Public Schools. At 5:00 p.m., Josephus Thompson III and The Poetry Project Dan River Region will lead the audience in a spoken word performance.
