God's Storehouse partners with Farmer Foodshare's Donation Station program to receive fresh, local produce from the Danville and Chatham Farmers' Markets each season. The Donation Station Program relies on volunteers to be our connectors between the farmers, the shoppers and the people who need food.
The Donation Station Volunteer will report to the God's Storehouse Urban Farm Manager. Primary responsibilities include:
- Staffing and Managing the Danville Donation Station. This includes properly receiving donations from market customers and purchasing food from farmers. (All staffing information is in the DS Volunteer Kit).
- Representing Farmer Foodshare and God's Storehouse at the Market.
- Reporting numbers to the Urban Farm Manager for the Donation Station.
- The opportunity to enjoy the incredible energy of a Farmers Market!
The Donation Station volunteer may be asked to assist with social media, written content and photography used to communicate the program to community stakeholders when needed.
Required qualities and skills:
- Professional and friendly demeanor
- Highly responsive to email and phone/text
- Deeply passionate about fresh local food and helping eliminate hunger and food insecurity
- Diplomatic, good at working with many different kinds of people of all ages and walks of life
- Access to own transportation and ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to successfully represent Farmer Foodshare and God's Storehouse to the community
- Able to work weekend market hours and week-day market hours (as needed)
