Who We Are
Mission: To improve Danville's quality of life by empowering neighbors and community associations, encouraging local investment, and building neighborhoods of opportunity and choice.
Vision: Danville's neighborhoods are thriving, nurturing and safe places where residents are empowered to invest their time, energy and resources to make a positive difference.
History: In 2014, the City of Danville enlisted assistance from the National Resource Network to assist Danville stakeholders in planning for the establishment of a nonprofit community development corporation. In 2016, the DNDC's Board of Directors was in place and the organization was officially established as a corporation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In June 2017, the organization hired its first Executive Director and began operations, including strategic planning. Today, the DNDC focuses most of its resources working with residents in the following neighborhoods/communities: White Rock (north), Westmoreland/Old West End/Green St. (central), and the community surrounding Danville Community College (south).
What We Do
The DNDC partners with residents, property owners and businesses to improve Danville's neighborhoods. In addition to developing housing, the DNDC works with neighborhood associations to plan, raise resources for and implement neighborhood improvement projects ranging from beautification to public safety. The DNDC administers a free exterior home repair program for elderly, veteran, disabled and low-income homeowners.
